OCCF Trustees and Staff

TRUSTEES


Arlyn Bensch, Oak Harbor, Treasurer 

CPA Arlyn Bensch previously served as the Finance Director and CFO at St. Charles Mercy Hospital (Oregon). He finished his career as Director of Business Analysis at Firelands Regional Medical Center (Sandusky). Arlyn is a Board Member of the Luther Home of Mercy Foundation and Oakwood Manor housing complex. Active with Oak Harbor Lions Club for over 40 years, he also serves on BCS School District's Finance Committee. Arlyn and his wife Candy, live on his family's farm and have two sons and five grandchildren.


Jim Boule, Port Clinton 

Jim Boule retired after a sales and management career in graphic packaging. He was raised in Chicago and spent many of his working years in Cincinnati with his family before relocating to Catawba Island over a decade ago. Jim has been involved in several charities in Ottawa County, and is currently active with the SDVP Food Pantry in Port Clinton. Jim learned to fly after retiring and spends many hours in aviation activities, including youth flight programs. He and his wife Flo enjoy travel and excellent restaurants, which they indulge in on visits to their daughter in Chicago and son who lives in Europe. 


Mary Coffee, Port Clinton

A long-time Trustee, Mary Coffee lives in Catawba and enjoys being a part of OCCF. She has served as Grants Chair for seven years — assisting area nonprofits seeking community grants for special projects — and is a member of the Public Relations and Gala committees. Mary is also actively involved with the Portage Resale Center (PRC) as a board member and is an advisor to the PRC Youth Council. Her favorite times are spent with her grandchildren and in her garden. 


Brenda Haas, Lakeside, Vice President

Originally from Coshocton County, author Brenda Haas has 30+ years of communications experience across multiple mediums. She currently writes features for Leisure Living Magazine and worked as a reporter and columnist for a Pittsburgh press before moving to Lakeside, where her award-winning debut novel, Finding Sutton’s Choice, is set. Brenda has volunteered with Lakeside Chautauqua, Marblehead Peninsula Branch Library, Rotary Club of Port Clinton, and Imagination Library through United Way. She loves to read and be on the water with her husband, Mike.


Deborah Harmeyer, Genoa, Secretary  

Deborah Harmeyer grew up in Genoa and happily chose to never leave. She is proud to have worked at GenoaBank for 33 years and currently serves as AVP Compliance Officer. Her free time is well-spent with family — her husband John, four children, and seven wonderful grandchildren.  

  

Marcia Jess, Oak Harbor

 Retired from Ohio State University Extension in Ottawa County as County Extension Educator, Family and Consumer Sciences (33 years), Marcia was Director for Leadership Ottawa County (LOC) for 10 years and is currently on the LOC Board of Directors. Instrumental in organizing the Ottawa County Barn Quilt Trail (est. 2014), Marcia serves on the OSU Extension Advisory Committee, the Auxiliary at Riverview Health Care Campus, and several committees at St. John Lutheran in Oak Harbor. She and her husband Don, have one son.

 
Brian Koenig, Elmore

Brian Koenig has been connected to OCCF for many years, first establishing the Pamela Graver-Koenig Memorial Scholarship in memory of his late wife, Pam. The scholarship supports Woodmore High School graduates who were involved in soccer, track, or cross country and who plan to pursue careers working with children.

A retired professional with Crown Battery, Erie Steel, and BAP Manufacturing, Brian has also been involved with several area organizations, including Fremont Rotary and the Sandusky County YMCA. He brings experience working with community foundations across the region.


Duane Kokinda, Port Clinton 

Duane Kokinda was born and raised in Port Clinton and returned to the area in 2018 after a 40-year career in the energy industry. He and his wife now live on Catawba Island. Duane and his family have been active supporters of OCCF and established the Joseph and Eleanor Kokinda Family Fund in honor of his parents. The fund supports nonprofit organizations serving the Port Clinton community. During his professional career, Duane managed a diverse portfolio of business operations and joint ventures, experience he now brings to the OCCF board.


Jim Krieger, Oak Harbor

 Jim Krieger lives near the Ottawa National Wildlife Refuge in Benton Township and has called Ottawa County home for most of his life. Jim brings extensive experience in finance and public accounting and looks forward to helping ensure the Foundation’s funds are carefully stewarded while continuing to grow opportunities for community impact. He has been active in several community organizations, including Friends of Ottawa National Wildlife Refuge, and supports local education initiatives. 


Alison Lanza Falls, Port Clinton

Alison Lanza Falls has called Catawba home for more than 25 years. The Ohio State University graduate originally visited the area with her late husband, enjoying the family’s historic Holt Cottage for 50+ years. Leaving BankAmerica Securities, Alison created a coaching practice focused on Mindful Leadership and served on boards in Port Clinton, Cleveland, Toledo and Columbus. Leveraging her expertise in investment banking, she combines strategic thinking with evidence-based coaching practices and meditation. She has published an award-winning book, Be Happy NOW! From Wall Street Ambition and the Illusion of Success, My Path to Happiness, and also serves on the Magruder Hospital Board of Trustees and the Ohio State Teachers Retirement System (STRS) Board.


Julene Market, Put-in-Bay

Julene Market is Co-Owner and Marketing Director of Miller Boat Line. Involved in area tourism her entire life, Julene served on the Marketing Committee for Lake Erie Shores & Islands and the Boards of Ottawa County Visitor's Bureau, Put-in-Bay Chamber of Commerce, North Coast Cancer Foundation, and Lake Erie Islands Conservancy. She supports Nature and Eco-Tourism, STEAM-related education, and women’s health. An avid reader and advocate for children’s literacy, she also helped spearhead Put-in-Bay StoryWalk. 


Ron Overmyer, Oak Harbor, President  

Ron Overmyer has served on many committees since joining the OCCF Board in 2020. He is also on the Boards of Friends of the Ottawa National Wildlife Refuge, International Health Partners, Heartland Agdeavor, and Agdeavor Ethanol Investments. Ron is a retired OSU Extension Agent and lives with his wife, Janice, near Oak Harbor. 


Michael Schenk, Port Clinton

Retired hospitality executive Michael Schenk worked as Resort General Manager at The Resort at Erie Landing and Catawba Island Club. On OCCF’s Grants and Development Committees, he is a former Board Member of the Port Clinton Chamber of Commerce and Ottawa County Visitors' Bureau (President). Mike has done fundraising for the American Cancer Society of Ottawa County, Habitat for Humanity, and Stein Hospice. He currently serves as a member of the Ottawa County Regional Planning Committee and Catawba Island Zoning Board of Appeals. Mike and his wife, Ginger, founded the Jessica Schenk Memorial Student Athlete Scholarship Fund in honor of their daughter and have awarded more than 100 scholarships valued at over $100,000.


Dave Slosser, Port Clinton

Dave Slosser, Scholarship Chair, is a retired educator who spent more than 47 years guiding students in the classroom and as a coach of various sports (including 36 years as Aquatic Director at Danbury Schools). A School Counselor for most of his career, Dave is currently very involved in scholarship programs with not only OCCF, but Firelands Positive People and the Port Clinton Rotary Club. These scholarship programs encompass 18 area high schools.

 

Diane Zeiztheim, Port Clinton  

Originally from Chicago, Diane Zeitzheim is a retired educator with an avid interest in supporting area residents. A graduate of John Carroll University with a Masters of Education from Bowling Green State University, Diane spent 19 years at Immaculate Conception School and also taught 5th-grade math at Bataan Elementary for more than nine years. In addition to volunteering, Diane keeps busy with rental properties and traveling with her husband, Eric. She enjoys working out, reading, and spending time with family and friends. 


STAFF

Shea McGrew, Bowling Green, Executive Director

OCCF Executive Director Shea McGrew brings to the Foundation 38+ years of experience in fundraising, marketing, endowment management, and alumni relations. Shea spent much of his career in senior management positions at the University of Cincinnati, Bowling Green State University, Michigan Technological University, and Capital University. Shea specializes in helping individuals and families achieve their charitable goals through creative giving plans. He also currently serves as Minister of Hope Lutheran Church in the Bowling Green area. Shea and his wife Trudy, enjoy time spent with their two adult sons.


Brenda Mazur, Port Clinton, Administrative Assistant 

Administrative Assistant Brenda Mazur earned a Bachelor's in Biology from Bowling Green State University. A veterinary assistant for many years, she eventually earned an Associates in Medical Laboratory Science (Certified ASCP MLT) and became a laboratory technician. Most recently, Brenda worked as a substitute teacher at area schools. Her interests include creatures big and small, camping, swimming, reading, and crocheting. She and her husband, Chris, were high school sweethearts and PCHS Alumni. They have three daughters.
