CURRENT FOUNDATION FUNDS
The following is a list of existing funds with the Ottawa County Community Foundation from oldest to newest . . .
You may contribute to an existing fund with as little as $5 or more. A named fund
may be established with a gift of $10,000 or more. Gifts may be made by multiple
donors. Perpetual grants and scholarships are awarded from the funds. This is
how you can “Do Good. Forever” through the Ottawa County Community Foundation.
*Ottawa County Community Foundation Fund – December 1999
Established to support the Ottawa County Community Foundation’s charitable grant making program in Ottawa County and to support operating expenses of the Ottawa County Community Foundation.
*John W. Blatt, Mayor of Put-In-Bay Scholarship Fund – December 1999
Established to provide scholarships for Put-In-Bay High School graduates who achieved academic excellence, demonstrated leadership skills and need financial assistance.
*Ida Rupp Public Library Fund – December 1999
Ida Rupp Library Board of Trustees established this fund to support the operating and/or capital needs of the Ida Rupp Public Library.
*Thomas W. Maher Scholarship Fund – March 2000
Multiple donors established this fund to provide scholarships for PCHS graduates who attend a post high school educational institution.
*Lenore Peterson Blackburn Fund – April 2000
Mrs. Blackburn established this fund to provide scholarships for graduates of PCHS with preference to those pursuing a degree in the healthcare field. It also supports the Ida Rupp Public Library and the City of Port Clinton.
*Hellwig-Clements Family Scholarship Fund – August 2000
Mrs. Lois Dillon established this fund to provide scholarships for Ottawa County residents who graduated from Genoa, Oak Harbor or Woodmore High Schools. Criteria include church membership, good character, academic excellence, leadership and participation in music, track, 4-H and/or boy or girl scouts.
*Arthur Van Rensselaer Scholarship Fund – June 2001
Mrs. Marguerite Hersberger established this fund to provide post-secondary scholarships for OHHS graduates who have achieved at least a 3.0 GPA and will participate in athletics at the collegiate level.
*Lake Erie Islands Historical Society Fund – September 2001
The Lake Erie Islands Historical Society established this fund to support the operating or capital needs of the Lake Erie Historical Society, Put-In-Bay, Ohio.
*Harry Stensen Community Fund – December 2001
The Harry Stensen Memorial Trust Fund established this fund to provide grants for supporting charitable activities benefiting residents of the Port Clinton area.
*Lakeside Association Fund – December 2001
The Lakeside Association established this fund to support the operating and/or capital needs of the Lakeside Association.
*Ottawa County Transitional Housing Fund – March 2002
The Harry Stensen Memorial Trust Fund established this fund to support the operating, program services and/or capital needs of Ottawa County Transitional Housing, Inc.
*Catawba Island Club Employee Scholarship Fund – March 2002
The Catawba Island Club established this fund to provide annual scholarships for full-time and seasonal employees attending an accredited post-secondary institution.
*Sue Ann Van Rensselaer Weibel Coyal Scholarship Fund – March 2002
Mrs. Marguerite Hersberger established this fund to provide scholarship for students attending the Eden Theological Seminary in St. Louis.
*George and Lois Svehla Fund – April 2002
The Lois Svehla Trust Fund established this fund to provide scholarships to graduating PCHS seniors who will be attending Capital University, Ohio Northern University or Tiffin University.
*Joseph J. Kristenak Memorial Scholarship Fund – October 2002
Established by the Joseph J. Kristenak family as a one-time post-secondary scholarship for Danbury High School graduates who are pursuing a degree in teacher education.
*Jo Ann Hablitzel Memorial Scholarship Fund – January 2003
The Charles Hablitzel family established this fund to provide one-time post secondary scholarship for graduates of Oak Harbor High School who intend to pursue and undergraduate degree in education.
*Les and Barb Sprouse Scholarship Fund – February 2003
Established by Leslie and Barbara Sprouse to provide post-secondary educational scholarships for graduates of Oak Harbor High School to an accredited institution of their choice.
*Oak Harbor Rotary Scholarships Fund – February 2003
The Oak Harbor Rotary Club and Jack Schiller established this fund to provide post-secondary scholarships for Oak Harbor High School graduates to an accredited institution of their choice.
*Marvin and Alice D. Rohloff Scholarship Fund – May 2003
Established by Janet Thomas and Pete Rohloff to provide one-time post-secondary scholarships for residents of Benton Township graduates of Oak Harbor High School.
*Firelands Food Pantry Fund – November 2003
Anonymous gift fund established for Firelands Presbyterian Church, Port Clinton, to benefit the Firelands Food Pantry in Port Clinton; 50% of annual distributions for purchase of food supplies.
*Heartbeat of Ottawa County Fund – November 2003
Anonymous gift fund established to benefit Heartbeat of Ottawa County; not less than 50% of annual distributions to be used for purchase of resources for pregnancy women and their babies.
*Humane Society of Ottawa County Fund – November 2003
Anonymous gift fund established to benefit the Humane Society of Ottawa County; the annual distributions to support the purchase of food, nourishment, supplies, medical equipment and/or medical supplies for animals in the care of the Humane Society of Ottawa County.
*Salvation Army and American Red Cross Fund – November 2003
Anonymous gift fund – 50% of available annual distribution for the support of operating, program, services and/or capital needs of Salvation Army Northwest Ohio Area Services Port Clinton Service Unit; 50% of available annual distribution for support of operating, program, services and/or capital needs of American Red Cross, Greater Toledo Area Chapters Ottawa County District Office.
*Dave and Jeanne Theirwechter Fund – December 2003
Established by Dave and Jeanne Theirwechter to support Charitable activities benefiting residents of Ottawa County.
*The Mary Willford Music Choice Scholarship Fund – March 2004
Established by Tod and Wendy Willford to provide annual one-time post-secondary educational scholarship for graduates of Port Clinton H.S. intending to major in/focus on the field of music.
*The James W. Longe Scholarship Fund – July 2004
Established by James Robert Longe to provide renewable post-secondary educational scholarships for graduates of Port Clinton High School.
*The Lester J. Klenk Scholarship Fund – December 2004
Established by the sister, nieces and nephews of Lester Klenk to provide one-time post-secondary educational scholarships for deserving graduates of Port Clinton High School.
*The Priscilla Rhiel Scholarship Fund – December 2004
Established by the Trust of Dr. James I. Rhiel to provide one, one-time, post-secondary educational scholarship to a deserving graduating senior of Port Clinton High School who intends to pursue a degree in the visual arts.
*The Dr. James I. and Priscilla Rhiel Fund – May 2005
Established by the Trust of Dr. James I. Rhiel to support charitable activities benefiting the residents of Ottawa County.
*The James Jacob Lee “Jake” Hefflinger Memorial Scholarship Fund – August 2005
Established by Sue Hefflinger, James Hefflinger and others to provide one-time, post-secondary educational scholarship for deserving graduates of Port Clinton High School.
*Linda Kaiser Carsten Scholarship Fund – August 2005
Established by Linda Kaiser Carsten to provide one-time, post-secondary educational scholarships for deserving graduates of Oak Harbor High School pursuing a course of study in the field of medical technology/laboratory medicine.
*The Jack and Judy Schiller Dyslexis Fund – October 2005
Established by Jack and Judy Schiller to support a dyslexic awareness program that will lead to identification and remediation efforts benefiting students in Ottawa County, Ohio.
*The Carol and Elsie Hablitzel Fund – December 2005
Established by Charles Hablitzel and Louise Petersen with annual distributions going to St. Paul United Church of Christ in Oak Harbor, divided equally between Mission and Benevolence activities and People and Program Activities.
*The 1999-2004 Port Clinton Walleye Festival Scholarship Fund – March 2006
Established by the 1999-2004 Port Clinton Walleye Festival to provide one-time, post-secondary scholarhips to one or more deserving graduating seniors of Port Clinton High School.
*The Joan M. Hudak Teacher Educations Scholarship Fund – February 2007
Established by Joan M. Hudak to provide one-time, postsecondary educational scholarships for graduating senior of Port Clinton High School planning to pursue a degree with the intention of becoming a teacher.
*The Catawba Island Volunteer Fire Department Auxiliary Scholarship Fund – August 2007
Established by the Catawba Island Volunteer Fire Department Auxiliary to provide one-time, post-secondary educational scholarship to deserving graduating Senior of Port Clinton High School.
*The William E. Market Family Fund – August 2007
Established by the family of William E. Market as a donor advised fund which gives priority consideration to organizations located in or serving Put-in-Bay and is to be used only for charitable, education, scientific, literacy or religious purposes.
*The Kent Johnson Family/Grandma Theo Scholarship Fund – August 2007 Established by William Duff to provide one-time, post-secondary educational scholarship to deserving graduating senior of Port Clinton High School
*The Nate Buckantz Fund – September 2007
Established by friends of Nate Buckantz – 50% of available annual distribution to be given to Stein Hospice, Sandusky, Ohio, to support its operating, program services and/or capital needs; and 50% of its available annual distributions to provide one-time, post-secondary scholarships for graduating senior from Port Clinton High School or Danbury High School with priority given to students pursuing a degree in hospitality management of a related degree.

Established by the Estate of Rita Gertrude Hintz Shela to benefit St. John Lutheran Church, Port Clinton, Ohio
*The Rollie W. Sidell Memorial Scholarship Fund – December 2007
Established by John Sidell and Make Sidell to provide post-secondary educational scholarships for graduates of Oak Harbor High School with priority given to a first generation college attendee involved in athletics, other extra curricular and/or community activities, having a good work ethic and in need of financial assistance.

*Bob and Grace Armbruster Fund – April 2008
Established by the family of Bob and Grace Armbruster to support charitable activities benefiting residents of Ottawa County, Ohio. Bob was a founding member of the Ottawa County Community Foundation, Inc. and long time Grants Committee Chairperson.
*Richard G. and Dorothy G. Bassett Scholarship Fund in Honor of David B. Bassett and Jody Bassett Stoyan – July 2008
Established by the Bassett family to provide post-secondary educational scholarships for graduates of Danbury High School, Oak Harbor High School and/or Port Clinton High School with priority given to students enrolling in HVAC at Terra Community College.
*Peter B. Rutan and Jean C. Rutan Scholarship Fund – February 2009
Established by the Trust of Peter B. Rutan for post secondary education scholarships to Port Clinton High School graduates who have at least a 3.0; need financial assistance; plan on participating in extra-curricular college activities; and have been employed or are employed to earn money for school.

Established by the Trust of Jean C. Rutan in memory of her parents Ruel Hamlin and Rose Nissen Crawford. The Fund is for the benefit of the Ida Rupp Public Library, Port Clinton, Ohio.
*Jean C. Rutan Port Clinton High School Scholarship Fund -- February 2009
Established by the Trust of Jean C. Rutan in memory of her parents Ruel Hamlin and Rose Nissen Crawford. The Fund is to provide college scholarships for graduating seniors of Port Clinton High School to help cover educational costs and expenses.
*Joshua D. Priddy Scholarship Fund – March 2009
Established by the Priddy family to provide post-secondary education scholarships to Oak Harbor High School male graduates who have participated in the sport of soccer during their high school years.
*Mayor John W. Blatt Scholarship Fund -- March 2009
Established by the will of John Ward Blatt, this Fund is to provide post-secondary educational scholarships for deserving graduates of Ottawa County, Ohio high schools.
*Ann Bolte Achievement Scholarship Fund – June 2009
Established by the Bolte family to provide one-time, post-secondary educational scholarships for graduating seniors of Port Clinton High School who have been involved in extra curricular and/or community activities and have average to above average academic achievement.
*Fraternal Order of Eagles #2295-Redskin Bowling Scholarship Fund – June 2009
Established by the Redskin Bowling Parents’ Club and the Fraternal Order of Eagles #2295 David W. Leonard Aerie, for the benefit of graduating seniors of Port Clinton High School who have been a member of the High School bowling team and have shown academic achievement and financial need.
*Jessica Schenk Memorial Scholar Athlete Scholarship Fund – December 2009
Established by the Schenk family to provide one-time post-secondary educational scholarships for graduating scholar athletes of Port Clinton High School.
