About Us

The Ottawa County Community Foundation was established in 1999 as a supporting organization of the Toledo Community Foundation.  Today, the Foundation has over 50 funds and assets of about $2 million.  The Foundation is dedicated to improving the quality of life in the Ottawa County area through collaborative leadership, responsible grantmaking and development of philanthropic giving. The Foundation manages donor designated funds, scholarships, field of interest and designated funds.  Grants are awarded annually to a wide variety of programs including civic affairs, capacity building for nonprofit organizations, prevention and remediation, and efforts that address problems to be solved or opportunities to be seized in Ottawa County.

Foundation History

The Ottawa County Community Foundation was established in 1999 as a public charitable organization.  It began with a $5,000 grant from the Harry B. Stensen Foundation and was created by the citizens of our community to improve the quality of life for those who live and work in the Ottawa County area. Grants from the Foundation's unrestricted funds support a variety of programs in the fields of education, social services, physical and mental health, safe and positive living environment, natural resources and the arts.  Scholarship funds are also available to support continued educational opportunities for worthy students.  We are confident the Foundation will continue to be a source of support to Ottawa County's non-profit organizations and students.
